This chapter was about students who misbehave writing their own letters home to parents, than you. When this is done, parents are more likely to believe it and not get mad at the teacher thinking that their kid is imperfect and horrible. Parents will more than likely tell the kid to behave better and give them a punishment that the kid won't like so the kid won't do anything bad anymore because the parent will know and act on that.
